Halfway through the term, and we already have some impressive sounds coming from our Beginning students!

They will share their progress with family and friends at the Beginning Band/SingIT concert on March 27th, in the PAC. This event will be followed by a welcome BBQ for all Year 7 Ensemble program families. Please RSVP with dietary requirements to emma.moffatt@education.vic.gov.au by March 20th.

It’s not too late – if you would like to learn an instrument, see Ms Humphrey in the band room, and pick up an enrolment form for the instrument of your choice.

Music Support group held their first meeting for 2024 last Thursday and are now seeking helpers for the Year 7 music concert BBQ. If you can help out turning sausages, please let us know!

This program, a DEET funded music incursion for high ability students is for students with interests in music, technology and multimedia. Students will compose music, record and produce it with guidance from SoulSonics mentors. Can’t wait to hear what they come up with!

Lucky Year 1 VET Music industry students will be participating in a 2 day songwriting and producing workshop hosted by Songmakers, on March 12+13th. This two day event sees students write songs, record and produce them, and engage in industry with professional sound engineers and composers.

The newly formed BHS Brass Ensemble are excited to be performing as part of the Portarlington Brass Band Series on March 24th. There will be two performances, starting at 11am and 1pm. Come on down to Portarlington and support our students– make a day of it and bring a picnic!!

Sessional Music Lessons are available with our teachers Nadine, Patrick, and Johanna, with vacancies for Voice, Strings and Keyboard, and limited places for drum kit.

We are excited to welcome Eli Merquita to our music team, a guitar teacher who brings a wealth of experience to share with and inspire our students.

Guitar and Bass lessons with Eli will begin in the next few weeks.

We have several new ensembles kicking off this year, so come along on a Tuesday lunchtime and see what it’s all about (Bring your lunch)
