Duke of Edinburgh Awardees 2023

2023 has been a very successful year with 95 students working towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. Congratulations to the following students who have successfully completed their award level:

Matthew (G9) – Bronze Award

Zane (G9) – Bronze Award

Sophie (C10) – Silver Award

Sophia (C – Silver Award

Hannah (C12) – Silver Award

The Gold Award requires significant effort and hard work, and often our Gold participants are also juggling their academic workload of either Year 11 or Year 12. A special congratulations goes out to Blair, Alicia, Rachael and Rory (CG12) who have completed their Gold Award in 2023. These students will be treated to a very special ceremony in March 2024.

Expressions of Interest 2024

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognised youth development program that is run in 140 countries. It aims to empower young people aged 14 to 25 to develop their full potential in a range of areas. The Award program focuses on fostering the lifelong skills of perseverance, resilience, teamwork and optimism. While physical fitness is certainly an asset during Adventurous Journeys, determination and a positive attitude are the most pivotal attributes! The Duke of Edinburgh International Award’s programs are available to all students in Years 9, 10,11 and 12 at Pittwater House. Students are supported by the Outdoor Education Coordinator, Ilsa Carpenter and weekly workshops are held at School.

There are three levels of the Award program, with a minimum age requirement for each level: Bronze (13 years, 9 months), Silver (15 years) and Gold (16 years). Students are encouraged to begin their Award journey at the end of Year 8 or at the commencement of Year 9 at the Bronze Level and progress through each level in subsequent years however, students can join the program at any level. The Award program requires students to complete activities in Physical Recreation, Skill, Community Service and Adventurous Journeys. Each level of the Award requires an increase in the length of time commitment required.
