Welcome to Auslan Term 1

2024 and the middle years building is looking revitalised and revamped thanks to the new paint within and without.

ML7 which is home to Auslan (Australian Sign Language) has a whole new look too.

If you visit Auslans YouTube channel, just search Heulwen Sweet, you'll see there are over 400 videos to choose from too. They even include what's on our major assessments or SACs.

English classes up and running!

We have welcomed our students in English classes through creative writing. In Year 7, our students have been writing about their own experiences, using noun groups to make their writing more descriptive. In Year 8, students have been exploring how different languages influence English and affect the way we talk and understand each other. In Year 9 classes, students have been watching film to learn about different identities and how people see themselves and others through story.

In Year 10, the focus has been on short stories and learning how different problems or conflicts show up in stories and how writers craft their piece. The VCE classes have been exploring mentor texts. The Year 11 classes have been looking at mentor texts using them as models to draft their own creative pieces. In Year 12 our students have been using the mentor texts to create their own writing and to express their own stories with the focus on “Writing about Personal Journeys”.
