Some words from the Acting Principal

Mrs Courtney Hoffman

Dear Karoo PS Community,

'I enjoy learning because it teaches me lots of things and makes my brain grow!

Year 1 is so much fun, and school is the best!'

Rowan, 1M, Feb 2025

What a sensational fortnight at Karoo PS.  The students and staff have seamlessly settled into the rhythm of the school year and demonstrating our Karoo PS Values of Kindness, Personal Excellence and Tenacity. The exciting start has continued with our Year 6 students enjoying a memorable camp in Phillip Island this week.  I was incredibly proud to see all the leaders of our school showing tenacity, as they tried out new challenges and encouraged each other. Our Year 5s are also getting excited about their city experience camp in week 9, this term. Thank you to all staff that attend camps to make these memorable events happen for students.  We appreciate all the time away from your own families (and sleep) you give to make it possible!

School Council

As you will have seen on Compass, School Council nominations have begun for 2025. I encourage you to nominate yourself or another community member if you are interested in representing the school families and assist in the constant improvement of our school. Council meetings are held eight times a year on Tuesday nights at 7pm.   Parents on School Councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school. One of the great things about our school is our strong parent input and involvement. Our School Council is one forum in which parents and staff work together for the benefit of all our students. At the beginning of each school year, we have a number of vacancies for School Council. There are 5 x Parent member positions to fill this year.

If you are interested in nominating, please collect a form from the school office or download one from Compass.  These must be lodged at the school office by 4pm Friday 28th February.

Getting to Know You Interviews

Thank you to all of the families who have already booked in for their 'Getting to Know You Interviews,' on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th February, either onsite or online. These meetings are a valuable opportunity for teachers and parents to forge a great relationship to ensure that students achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

Karoo PS Community

Our wonderful Karoo PS community is growing again! It is with great excitement that I can share that two members of our staff are expecting a new member into their families in the middle of the year - Hillary Cheng, and Ashley Kuusela.  We wish them so much joy at such a special time and look forward to meeting their special little people.  We are currently working through replacement process and look forward to sharing further updates with our school community.

The Karoo PS community is a special community, who support and encourage each other.  Thank you to all members of our who interact positively around our school and model to our students' respectful behaviours.  We have range of policies which support how engage with each other, which can all be accessed via our school's website.  As always, if you have any concerns, questions, or queries please don't hesitate to follow up through our communication pathways processes.

Have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you around the school!
