Principal's message

Welcome to 2025

It has been wonderful seeing all our students returning after the holiday period, connecting with friends and staff, and settling in with their flexible learning group. Our Kindergarten students have been well supported in their transition to school by our Year 6 Buddies and new friendships are being developed. We have a scattering of new enrolments across Years 1-6 which are impacting the finalisation of classes. I thank you all for being understanding through this process.

Staff Update

As we move into 2025, we have had some changes to our Peakhurst PS Team.

While it has been a difficult decision, Mrs Stephen has applied for extended leave during 2025 to spend time supporting her family.

Mrs Wilson has taken leave this term to attend to personal matters. We look forward to welcoming her back in Term 2.

We have new staff members joining us. Please welcome these staff members:

  • Mrs Ann-Maree O'Donnell - Stage 1 Assistant Principal
  • Miss Emily Rampoldi - Stage 2 Teacher
  • Miss Haley Lyons - Support Unit SLSO
  • Ms Danielle Lucas - Mainstream SLSO

A special welcome to the new families to Peakhurst PS, we hope you and your family feel part of our community.

School Times

It is important for the safety of the students and to minimise disruption to learning the school reinforces our times for providing access to the school site in the morning and afternoon.

Morning

8.55am Open for student and parent/carer entry

9.00am Teacher supervision commences

9.17am  Music plays to line up

9.20am  Bell rings to go to class

9.30am Gates are locked

Please do not send your child to school before 8.55am, unless they are attending Attunga.

Afternoon

3.00pm  Open for Support Unit students to exit via Bailey Pde

3.05pm  Gate closed

3.20pm  Open for parent/carer access via Bailey Pde, Greenlands Ave and Bonds Rd

3.25pm  Classes dismissed

3.40pm  Gates close

Our new student leaders are very new at their job of locking the gates in the morning and opening them in the afternoon. While they have their 'L' Plates on for gates, please be understanding if they are a little later than expected.

I thank you for your anticipated cooperation and understanding.

Mindfulness

A focus through our School Behaviour and Management Plan is to explicitly teach students strategies that equip them with tools to build self-esteem, manage stress and skilfully approach challenges. To provide time for staff to work with classes in learning mindfulness, we have adjusted our lunchtime bells.

11.20am   Supervised Eating Time

11.30am   First Half Lunch

11.50am   Second Half Lunch

12.10pm   Mindfulness

12.20pm   Learning Time

This is a new journey for our staff and our students, and we look forward to taking it together.
