NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will take place between Wednesday 12 March - Monday 24 March this year. The results of NAPLAN tests provide valuable information for students, parents/carers, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.
Yr 7 & Yr 9 Gisborne Secondary College students are scheduled to complete NAPLAN tests on the following days/times:
All tests will be taking place in B-Block. Students will need to check Compass closer to the test window for room allocations and any updates.
NAPLAN tests are delivered in an online format, so students will need to ensure that they bring their device (fully charged) to each test session. Students will access the tests via a Locked Down Browser (LDB) which will be installed by our IT Technician on each student’s device using the mobile management software 'In Tune' prior to the testing period – for some students this will be installed manually and for others it will be installed remotely via the network. The LDB prevents students from accessing the internet and other applications during testing and disables spell and grammar check functions and can be easily uninstalled by the student after the testing period.
Headphones are required for the Conventions of Language (reading, spelling & grammar) test, are optional for the Writing & Numeracy tests and are not permitted in the Reading test. We encourage students to bring their own headphones, although a limited number of spare headphones will be available for students who forget their own. As always, we emphasise preparedness for class and appreciate parent support in this endeavour.
Detailed information has been emailed to all Year 7 & Year 9 parents. For more information about the tests, please visit the VCAA website at: www.vcaa.vic.edu.au or the NAP website at: www.nap.edu.au
