A message from the Principal

What a busy start to the year it's been! The energy and enthusiasm around the school is palpable, and this week has been particularly eventful. We continue to have so many exciting activities, and I'm thrilled to share some highlights with you.
On Tuesday evening, we were treated to a wonderful event – Jazz in the Park. What a fantastic turnout! The weather was good, the live music was a hit, and the food, drink, and games created such a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere. This event truly showcased the strength of our community as families came together to enjoy the evening.
Jazz in the Park has become a special tradition at SKiPPS, and it was heartening to see how much our Parents' Association has embraced it. This year, they've taken it to new heights, making it better than ever, and we are incredibly grateful for their dedication.
On another note, our Information Sessions for parents, which are running on Wednesday and Thursday this week, have been a wonderful opportunity for teachers to share their passion and knowledge and inform families about the teaching and learning that’s happening in the classrooms.
I had the privilege of attending a few sessions, and it was inspiring to hear our educators speak so confidently about the curriculum, especially our new approaches to Maths, Reading, Spelling, and Writing. For any parents unable to attend, don't worry – teachers will be sharing the slides from the sessions, so you can still get all the important information.
Meanwhile, nominations for our School Council have now closed, and we will be sharing the next steps with you very soon. At School Council this week, we also had the opportunity to discuss our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan – this is the roadmap that will guide our strategy for the year ahead. We are excited to share the details of this plan with the community, and I’ll be providing more information in next week’s newsletter.
Finally, we are thrilled to welcome visitors from Brighton Beach and South Melbourne Park this Friday. They will be joining us at SKiPPS to see our new reading and spelling curriculum, PhOrMeS, in action. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the excellent work our teachers are doing, and we look forward to sharing our learning with others.
Thank you all for your continued support – it’s been a mammoth start to the year, but the excitement and sense of community are certainly worth it. We can’t wait to continue the journey with you all!
