Grade 3 News

We have had a wonderful start to 2025 learning.

In English we have been reading our class novel ‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl.

We have been looking at some of the words Roald Dahl uses such as formidable, nimble, fond, witty and pleasant.

Our focus now in our writing is short and long vowel sounds.

In Numeracy, our focus over the next two weeks is on addition and subtraction.

We are writing and completing two-digit addition and subtraction fact families using bar models and MAB blocks.

We are working on developing strategies to solve worded questions, such as number lines, partitioning and fact families.

Last week, during Numeracy our focus was on place value. The students worked well on understanding place value up to Millions.

In Religion, we are looking at Reaching out and Serving others. This allows us to look at acts of kindness and how we can help others at home, school and in our community.

We hope your children can share some of their learning with you this week.

Don’t forget to book in for Parent-Teacher Interviews for Term 1. We look forward to catching up with you!

If you have any questions, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
