Try out and expression of interest

 

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 

I am currently in the process of seeking interest from students who may wish to join the Senior Choir - students in Years 3 – 6 only. 

 

I’m inviting all students in Years 3 – 6 to attend a ‘try out’ session to see if they would enjoy choir. This will take place at Break 2 (2pm) on Wednesday the 26th of February in Drayton Hall.

 

Following the try out session, rehearsals will take place at 2:00pm each Wednesday for 40 minutes. We will commence rehearsals on Wednesday the 5th of March.

If your child is interested in being part of the Choir this year, please give your permission via the Sentral Parent Portal. You will be emailed a link to the portal if your child attended the try out session and expressed their interest in choir. 

If your child’s name is not listed in your parent portal and they would like to be part of the Choir, please let myself or the office know via return email.

If your child is unable to attend a rehearsal due to illness or a non-school related activity, please advise me via email (Rhiannon.Trimby@education.vic.gov.au). If your child is unable to continue with choir at any point in the term, please communicate this to me as soon as possible.

 

Students involved in the Choir will be asked to –

  • Commit to a full school term as a member.
  • Make every effort to attend all rehearsals
  • Participate fully in all experiences and not waste time
  • Actively demonstrate appropriate choir etiquette e.g. listening to the speaker and follow directions
  • Practise choir music at home
  • Have enthusiasm and a positive attitude for rehearsals, singing and performing
  • Be dressed in neat and correct uniform for performances (see below)
  • Behave appropriately at public performances
  • Be willing to have a go, be supportive of other choir members and have some fun!

Throughout the year, Choir will be performing at different venues. During these performances, students will be required to wear the correct choir uniform.  Our Choir uniform is as follows: 

  • Choir Top (this top can purchased from the office)
  • Plain black pants
  • Plain black socks
  • Black shoes that can be polished (boots are acceptable)

I’m looking forward to seeing/hearing some fantastic performances from our Senior Choir this year!
