Maths Assessment in the Classroom
Each year, students complete the PAT Maths assessment as part of our ongoing approach to understanding how children are progressing in mathematics. PAT (Progressive Achievement Test) is not a test students need to study for — it’s a tool that helps teachers see what each learner already understands and what they’re ready to learn next.
The assessment covers key areas such as number, measurement, algebra, geometry, and statistics. It provides detailed information about each student’s strengths and areas for growth, helping teachers plan lessons that meet students right where they are in their learning.
PAT results are just one part of the bigger picture we use to track progress — alongside classroom tasks, conversations, and observations. Together, these insights help us ensure every student is supported and challenged to grow as a confident, capable mathematician.
