PBL

At SFS, our PBL (Positive Behaviours for Learning) school wide expectations are:

Respect,

Responsibility and

Kindness

This week in PBL we focused on KINDNESS: Include others. We taught this focus to tie in with World Kindness Day. We discussed why it is important to show kindness to others and how we can do this. Make a pledge to show kindness to others and include them.

The students were asked to brainstorm a list of ways that we can show kindness to others and include them at school. We asked the students to think about what they can do if they see others being unkind to other children at school.

Here are some of our lucky PBL winners who have been demonstrating our school expected behaviours.

World Kindness Day

We celebrated World kindness day at SFS on Thursday 13th November. The students were allowed to wear a touch if purple to school to promote the importance of World Kindness Day. Here is what some of our students had to say about Kindness.

What is kindness and how can we show kindness to others?

Kindness looks like people sharing with each other or letting people go in front of us in a line.

Kindness means to me giving a pencil to someone to use if they do not have one or letting someone go in front of me if they are carrying something heavy.

Kindness is about being nice to each other, helping each other and being yourself.

We can complement someone about what they are wearing or ask someone if they want to play with you.

Kindness is helping other people and saying nice things to people.

Kindness looks and feels like showing respect to people

It’s making someone else’s day.

You can show kindness to someone through a simple action like smiling at them.

If someone is hurt you can help them. At school if you see someone hurt, you can tell a teacher so they get help.

If someone is left out at school you can ask them to join your group, that is showing kindness.

Why is it important?

We can all be kind and never have fights.

We should be kind to each other because God made us to be kind and make people happy.

It is important so everyone can be kind in the world and we would have less wars and fighting.

It is important because when you are kind to people you can make friends.

If you don’t show kindness to others, someone might feel like no one cares and they don’t matter. We all are important and we all matter.

Multicultural Celebration Morning

We will be celebrating our diverse cultural backgrounds at school on Wednesday November 26th at SFS

We will have a special assembly in the hall at 9am lead by the Specialist team with performances from students celebrating different cultural backgrounds.

If any parents and siblings would like to perform a song, dance, play an instrument or other cultural piece with their children, please contact me rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au

We would love to start with a procession of flags, if you have a flag on a flag pole from your cultural background, please drop it off at the school office before this day so we can include this in the celebration. The students are invited to wear clothes to represent their cultural background and we invite families attending to also dress in cultural clothes and bring along a plate of food from your cultural background to share with the other parents and family members attending. After the assembly, you will be invited into the learning spaces with your children to participate in a fun cultural activity then return back to the hall for Morning tea (not with the students) at 11 am
