From the Principal

Dear Endeavour College Families,

This year, our College theme has centred on Pursuing Excellence. In Term 1, we explored the foundations of Pursuing Excellence with God. Term 2 focused on Pursuing Excellent Communities with God, and in Term 3, we reflected on Pursuing Inner Excellence with God.

In Term 4, our theme is Excellence that Serves the World. In Week 4’s Anchor, we highlighted two staff members who have demonstrated excellence in their fields — Mrs Renee Hutton was recognised as Home Economics Teacher of the Year by the Home Economics Institute of Australia (SA) and Teacher Librarian Mrs Catherine Barnes was recognised for the prestigious Joan Brewer Award.

It is now my pleasure to announce that Catherine Stanley, Music Coordinator, will join this list of current achievers.

Since 2017, AHOMINGS has established criteria to recognise outstanding Heads of Music and Music staff in non-government schools and the wider community, following recommendations from the national review of school music education. While many organisations acknowledge music educators, AHOMINGS seeks to further uplift, support, and celebrate excellence within the profession.

The AHOMINGS Executive has announced this year’s awards for Long and Noteworthy Service and Significant Contribution to the Profession. We are delighted to share that Catherine Stanley has been awarded an AHOMINGS Long and Noteworthy Service Award, following nomination by her peers.

These accolades highlight the strength, experience, and excellence within our teaching faculty, and as the leader of this College, I am delighted to share these outstanding achievements with our community.

Additionally, please see below for important information and updates.

Recall of Coloured Sand

The health and safety of our students, staff and families are our highest priority. You may be aware through media reporting of the recall of some products of coloured sand. The products have been recalled because they may contain tremolite asbestos, a naturally occurring asbestos, which was detected in some samples after laboratory testing.

It is important to note that the SafeWork SA current advice is that respirable asbestos has not been detected in any of the samples tested. In line with SafeWork SA protocols we have undertaken a thorough assessment of all sand products used in the College and have followed the SafeWork advice.

Should you have any queries regarding this situation, please contact the College.

As always, I am grateful to be leading this wonderful community and thank you for your support.

Mr Richard Baird

Principal
