Vic Police Presentation

This term we had Victoria Police attend ECSC to run a presentation to discuss cyber bullying and its impact on people involved, as well as discussing safety online with the students. Our Year 7 cohort were respectful throughout the presentation and asked a number of questions at the end of the session showing they were actively participating in the discussion and engaged in the presentation.

Regional Cricket Team

The Year 7 Leadership Team would like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our Year 7 cricket team, who made it to regionals and were awarded the Runner Up award for the Northern Metropolitan Sports Regionals. The team not only practiced regularly during school time, but also organised extra training sessions outside of school showing their dedication to representing the school and showing the school values within school and our local community.

Athletics Carnival

This year we had our second Athletics carnival with Year 7 students actively participating in a variety of events and activities representing their house and the whole school community. It was amazing to see the students cheering each other on and showing the school values throughout the day. We look forward to running the event again next year and seeing students continue to build positive connections at ECSC.

Victoria Police Cyber Safety Incursion

This term, Year 8 students took part in a Victoria Police cyber safety incursion, where they learned about staying safe online, understanding their digital footprint, and the long-term impact of their “online fingerprint.” The session was highly informative, and students engaged thoughtfully with discussions about responsible online behaviour and the importance of protecting their digital identity.

Athletics Carnival

The Athletics Carnival was a highlight of the term, with Year 8 students showing outstanding participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Their behaviour throughout the day was exemplary, and many staff commented on the enthusiasm and encouragement students displayed while supporting one another across events. It was fantastic to see so many students embody the ECSC values.

Susan McLean Incursion – Social Media Ban

Year 8 students also took part in an important session with leading cyber safety expert Susan McLean. The incursion focused on the upcoming social media ban and the ways online platforms can impact young people’s wellbeing. Susan’s engaging and direct presentation helped students understand expectations, safe online practices, and how to navigate the digital world confidently and respectfully.

Year 8 vs Year 7 Soccer Match

Adding a bit of friendly competition to the term, the Year 8s faced off against the Year 7s in a lunchtime soccer match. It was a closely contested game, with Year 8 securing a 2–1 win. Both year levels demonstrated great teamwork, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm, making it a fun moment of community spirit.

Looking Ahead – Final Month of Term

As we head into the final month of the school year, Year 8 students have two exciting events to look forward to. On Tuesday 9 December, they will celebrate the end of the year with a trip to Funfields, and on Thursday 11 December they will visit Scienceworks for a day of hands-on learning and exploration. These activities will provide a positive and engaging finish to what has been a productive and successful term.

Health day

At the start of the term, Year 9 girls participated in a Big Sister workshop while the Year 9 boys worked with The Man Cave as part of the Health Day program. Both groups focused on building positive self-worth, developing emotional regulation skills, and understanding the impact of healthy relationships. Students were highly engaged throughout the sessions, and both presenters and participants provided very positive feedback about the experience.

RIJI

In October, selected Year 9 students participated in RIJI, the Real Industry Job Interview Day, travelling to PRACC to take part in mock interviews with members of the local community. The experience gave students a valuable insight into real-world interview expectations and allowed them to practise their communication and presentation skills in a supportive setting. Students embraced the challenge and gained confidence from the opportunity.

Sustainathon Challenge

Year 9 students Armann, Ela, Rayyan, and Zach proudly represented ECSC in the Whittlesea Tech Sustainathon Challenge, alongside other schools from the region. They were tasked with solving real-world sustainability problems provided by industry partners, using their creativity, innovation, and teamwork to develop sustainable solutions which they then presented back to the partners.

The Amazing Race

In November, Year 9 students travelled into the Melbourne CBD for a day of landmark-based challenges, exploring key sights around the city while working in teams to complete each task. The group represented the school exceptionally well, demonstrating positive behaviour, cooperation, and enthusiasm throughout the excursion. Students enjoyed the opportunity to experience the city’s vibrant atmosphere and engage with iconic locations in a fun and meaningful way.

Last Month of School

As we head into the final month of the school year, students have several important and exciting events ahead. Year 9s will be preparing for and completing their exams, enjoying the end of year Luna Park excursion, taking part in the school fete, and beginning their Step Up program as they transition into Year 10. It’s a busy and rewarding finish to the term.

Spanish Spotlight

Education Perfect Language Championships 2025

Each year, our school participates in the EP Language Championships, and this year Edgars Creek Secondary College achieved exceptional results in the 2025 competition. We placed 2nd in Victoria for Spanish with an impressive 30,062 points, and 6th nationally out of more than 1,800 participating schools.

The competition took place in May, and we celebrated our top 10 highest-scoring students with a special pizza lunch. Additionally, all students who earned more than 500 points received an official certificate from Education Perfect in recognition of their hard work.

Congratulations to all students who took part! ¡Felicidades!

Spanish Film Festival

In June, selected Year 7 and 8 Spanish students travelled to the city to watch Through Rocks and Clouds (Raíz), a Peruvian film about a young boy and his pet alpaca. This excursion offered students a wonderful opportunity to immerse themselves in Latin American culture and learn about Quechua, the Indigenous language of Peru.

It was wonderful to see all students demonstrating the school value of respect throughout the day, and everyone enjoyed a fun and memorable experience. Students also had the chance to explore the city, spending their lunch break at Collins Place.

November-December

As we wrap up the school year, our Spanish students are completing their final projects and have been doing a fantastic job demonstrating their language skills, cultural understanding, and creativity.

As we look ahead, we are hopeful and excited about future opportunities for overseas learning. Although next year’s trip to Spain has been postponed, we remain committed to offering this experience in the years to come and look forward to providing students with an authentic opportunity to immerse themselves in Spanish language and culture!
