What an amazing afternoon we had at our Year 5/6 Garage Sale! We were so proud to help organise and run the event, and we were blown away by how many people came to support us. The hall was full of families, students, all coming together to help others and pick up some great bargains too!
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an incredible amount of money to support people in our community through Foodshare, as well as global communities through Catholic Mission. It felt great to know that our work is going to make a real difference.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated items, came along, or bought something. We loved seeing our school community come together, and we’re really proud of what we achieved as leaders of our school.
Thank you for supporting us!

What an incredible few days our Upper Students had on camp at Feathertop, Harrietville!
We began our journey with a stop at Winton Wetlands, where students deepened their understanding of Country and our local environment. They explored the unique landscape, learning about the cultural and ecological significance of the wetlands. It was a wonderful connection to our Indigenous perspectives and to our shared responsibility for caring for creation. Thank you to Nikki James and Michael Chisholm for faciliating this session.
At Harrietville, we experienced all four seasons in one day, sunshine, rain, mist and even a touch of mountain chill but nothing could dampen our spirits! The breathtaking scenery, fresh alpine air, and sense of community made it an unforgettable experience.
Students took part in a range of activities that challenged them and encouraged teamwork, courage, and persistence including the Leap of Faith, Tree Climb, Zip Line, and Giant Swing. Everyone stepped outside their comfort zone, encouraged one another, and celebrated eachother.
Evenings were filled with laughter around the campfire (and, of course, s’mores!), relaxing swims in the indoor pool, shared meals, and a much-loved talent show that showcased the courage, creativity and confidence of our students.
A huge thank you to our Upper students, who exemplified our three school-wide expectations throughout the week ~ Do your best, Help others succeed, and Respect our school. You represented St. Mel’s beautifully through your kindness, teamwork, and enthusiasm. Our camp facilitators at Feathertop made special mention of how impressed they were with you all.
And to our staff, thank you for your care, organisation, and energy in making this experience possible. It truly was a week to remember filled with learning, laughter, joy and lasting memories.

As part of our cherished school tradition, we are excited to present the Grade 6 Profiles, a special rite of passage for our senior students as they prepare to graduate. Each year, our Year 6 students reflect on their journey through primary school, sharing personal insights, memories, and their hopes for the future.
In each newsletter from now until the end of the year, we will feature these profiles, offering a glimpse into the experiences and dreams of our future leaders. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their growth, resilience, and the bright futures ahead of them.
Stay tuned to hear their stories and be inspired by the incredible journeys they’ve taken during their time at our school!

Our wonderfully talented Visual & Performing Arts teacher, Robyn Banfield, will be starring in the upcoming production of Little Women! We are so excited to see Robyn shine on stage. Please see the flyer for all the details.
