Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Families,
Although the Melbourne weather is proving otherwise, summer is on the way and all of our students have spent the past two weeks honing their swimming and water safety skills in preparation. The Prep to Grade 5s have attended Paul Sadler in Hillside, and although they are feeling extra tired at the moment, they have not only improved their skills around the water, they have also represented the school beautifully. Our Grade 6s were very excited this morning boarding the bus to Port Melbourne beach for their surf lifesaving excursion today. Hopefully they'll have a chance to put their learnings to use over the holidays.

Before I go any further I'd like to welcome the newest member to our Albanvale Primary School. Ms Soabas and her husband Aldre welcomed Reon into the world on Sunday 2 November. We are so happy to hear of his safe arrival and that Mum and Bubs are well.
As we approach the end of year and the festive system there is a lot happening at the school. The 3/4s have a science incursion, the Grade 5s have their Kidpreneur Market. Preps are off to Legoland, 1/2s will be exploring Scienceworks, Step Up Morning (with all of our Grade 6s heading to their high schools), House Colour Day, Christmas Stall, Christmas Concert, Grade 6 Big Day Out and the final assembly with our Grade 6 Graduation. This is all a very long winded way of me imploring you to make sure you keep an eye on Compass for messages and events and look through the Important Dates .
Achievement Week
Next week is our last Achievement Week for for the 2025 school year. Our teachers will use these assessments to assist in forming the end of year reports. As a teaching group we love seeing the progress our students make, and this one feels extra special as we can see how they've progressed over the whole year. As a community we like to use this time to celebrate with students, and encourage them to be proud of the growth they have achieved over the school year.
Prep Transition Program
We look forward to welcoming our 2026 Prep students on Thursday next week as they get ready to join Albanvale Primary School. Most of the students have been joining us for the Head Start Program, and this will continue to run until Friday 5 December. These transition sessions are very important for our future school students, providing the opportunity to practise the routines and expectations of the classroom. On the last session the students will meet their teachers and classmates, in their new classroom, ready for 2026. We have finalised our Prep enrolments for 2026 with two classes confirmed. For all further enrolment inquiries please get in touch with the office.
Many of you may be aware of our Head Start Program, where we prepare our Preps-To-Be with all the skills they need to get the most of school when they start Prep. In 2026 we are taking the next step, providing an enhancement to your child's existing Kindergarten program. Pre-school aged children can access to up to 30 hours of structured, play-based learning every week in a specially designed Pre-Prep Program. You can find out more about the program in the newsletter, or on our website. As with our Preps to Grade 6s, planning is well underway for the introduction of the Little Learners Academy, so if this is something you would be interested in for your child entering 4-year-old kinder I encourage you to submit your interest now.
Thank you for helping us Achieve Excellence, Together.
