Italian

Prep students have continued to learn with great enthusiasm.  They have been an absolute delight to teach this year and I look forward to continuing our journey together next year. They have been practising their greetings such as buongiorno and buonasera - good morning and good afternoon and are increasingly responding to simple conversational phrases such as Come ti chiami?  Mi chiamo ….  My name is ….

Prep students love counting to 10 and always wanting to count up to 20.   They have  made their pizzas early in Term 3.  Topics covered this semester have been learning to say the names of the  days of the week, colours, months of the year with a particular focus on their own birthday month, fruits, body parts, shapes, family members and some school items.

Grade 1 students have also been very busy learning and applying their knowledge of the Italian language.  This semester they have been focusing on numbers and counting by 10s to 100, days of the week, months of the year and in particular their birthday  month, colours, shapes to make items (ie: truck, garden, robot) and farm animals using craft materials.

Grade 2 students enjoy learning Italian.  They have demonstrated their enthusiasm when learning through games and craft activities.  This semester they have focused on revising numbers from 0 - 20, count by 10s to 100 and played card games making 2 digit numbers to 99.  Students loved learning about and making The Colosseum, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, a gondola in Venice and drawing The Mona Lisa along with learning about some history attached to this famous painting.  Students have been learning about the names of  clothing and farm animals.
