Prep

Can you believe we’re already over halfway through Term 4? Our Prep students have achieved so much, and there’s still plenty of fun and learning to come before the end of their very first school year!
In English, our students have continued developing their writing skills through Information Reports. They’ve been learning about the key features of these texts, including headings, interesting facts, and labels. Students have written about different animals and topics of personal interest, sharing their work during ‘reflection time’ so that we can all learn more about the wonderful world around us.
In Math, we have been prioritising the mastery of key number skills through our daily Number of the Day routine. This approach allows students to explore numbers in depth, breaking them down into tens and ones, identifying patterns, and building fluency. Revisiting these concepts each day helps students gain confidence and develop strong number sense, setting them up for success with more complex mathematical ideas.
Our Integrated Studies topic for the first half of the term was Creativity. Students used their critical and creative thinking skills to engage in activities such as Mr Squiggle drawings, dot paintings, and hands-on construction challenges. We are now introducing our new topic, Connections. This unit encourages students to explore connections between themselves and others, discovering similarities and differences, discussing likes and dislikes, and learning about real-world connections through cultural celebrations such as Halloween, Diwali, and Christmas.
A major highlight this term has been the Colour Run. It was wonderful for our Preppies to see the whole school come together for an afternoon of fun, cheering, music and colour! A big thank you to everyone who helped raise money and make it such a vibrant event!
The excitement for our Dance Production is also building! All grades have been rehearsing diligently, and the dances are looking fantastic. We can’t wait to showcase our moves on the big stage soon!
To celebrate World Kindness Day, we ran a special Wellbeing Week, which concluded today. Throughout the week, our students took part in activities that highlighted the importance of being Kind on Purpose, both to ourselves and to others. It has been a wonderful week full of gratitude, compassion, and joy, leaving us all feeling warm and fuzzy!
As we head toward the end of the term, we’re looking forward to some festive Christmas activities. These will include sessions with our Grade 5 Buddies and some delicious Christmas baking in the kitchen. There’s still so much fun ahead, and we can’t wait to share these special moments with you!
Warm regards,
The Prep Team
