Principal's Desk

Dear Families,
Today we remember with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice in time of war. We pray that the offering of their lives may not have been in vain. Today we dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice, freedom and peace; and for the wisdom and strength to build a better world.
We inherit the world, the whole of history, our place on earth, our place in time, our fortune, good or bad, pure chance.
Now, in one picture, we see our entire planet: one world, one race, one future, bound together for the first time.
Ours for the breaking or the making.
(David Roberts)
They shall grow not old, As we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. With the setting of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them.
Lest We Forget
Remembrance Day Service
We were very proud of our Year 6 students who represented Holy Trinity at the Remembrance Day Ceremony held at Knox City Shopping Centre this morning. Under the guidance of Mr Damian O'Bryan, our students led a moving and respectful service to honour the fallen.
This special occasion provided our students with the opportunity to put their learning about Australian history and culture into action, while taking part in a meaningful community commemoration. They did a wonderful job and represented our school beautifully, well done to Damian and our Year 6 leaders!
World Teachers’ Day Thanks
On behalf of all the staff, I want to extend a huge thank you for the incredible spread of food provided yesterday for World Teachers’ Day. The variety and abundance of delicious treats were amazing, and you really made everyone at Holy Trinity feel appreciated and special.
A special thank you to the Parents’ Association for organising the morning tea, setting up the staffroom, and making it look so beautiful. Your efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed, and we’re so grateful for the time and care that went into making the day so enjoyable. We feel very lucky to be part of such a supportive school community and to have the privilege of teaching your children. Thank you again for your generosity and thoughtfulness, it really means a lot to all of us.
Staffing News
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that Anne Cochrane has been appointed as Deputy Principal at St Dominic’s School, Camberwell, commencing in 2026. This is a well-deserved achievement that recognises Anne’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to Catholic education. While we will miss her greatly here at Holy Trinity, we are so proud of this opportunity for her to continue making a difference in a new community. We look forward to celebrating and farewelling Anne later in the term.

Preparing for Upcoming Social Media Age Restrictions
From 10 December 2025, new national social media age restrictions will come into effect. The eSafety Commissioner has released some really useful resources to help families, schools and young people prepare for these changes. The Social Media Age Restrictions (SMAR) Hub is a great place to start. It offers clear, up-to-date information about what the new rules mean and how they’ll be introduced. Parents and carers can also access free webinars through the Hub, which provide practical advice on how to support children to use social media safely, responsibly and positively.
At Holy Trinity, we’re committed to working closely with families to help our students make good choices online. Technology can be a wonderful tool for connection and learning, and with the right guidance, our young people can use it wisely and well. You can explore the SMAR Hub here: https://www.esafety.gov.au/social-media-age-restrictions
Marketing
We are currently developing a new marketing profile for Holy Trinity, and your feedback will play an important role in shaping it. This project includes the creation of a new school website, a review of our social media platforms, and a focus on strengthening our overall digital presence.
We invite you to take a few minutes to complete the attached survey. At the end, you’ll have the option to indicate whether you’re comfortable for us to use some of your comments as testimonials, either attributed to you or shared anonymously. Thank you for helping us showcase the warmth and strength of our Holy Trinity community.

Joke of the Week
A husband and wife were driving down a country lane on their way to visit some friends. They came to a muddy patch in the road and the car became bogged. After a few minutes of trying to get the car out by themselves, they saw a young farmer coming down the lane, driving some oxen before him.The farmer stopped when he saw the couple in trouble and offered to pull the car out of the mud for $50. The husband accepted and minutes later the car was free. The farmer turned to the husband and said, "You know, you're the tenth car I've helped out of the mud today."The husband looks around at the fields incredulously and asks the farmer, "When do you have time to plough your land? At night?"
"No," the young farmer replied seriously, "Night is when I put the water in the hole."
Final Thoughts - Saving Our Children from Our Chaotic, Instant World
In a recent reflection, author and educator Maggie Dent reminds us how much childhood has changed since she first wrote Saving Our Children from Our Chaotic World over 20 years ago. With today’s constant digital noise, social pressures, and hurried expectations, many children are struggling with anxiety, low self-worth and disconnection. Maggie urges families and schools to slow down and protect the wonder of childhood – to value play, nature, creativity and relationships over busyness, screens and achievement.
She reminds us that children thrive when they feel calm, connected and valued for who they are, not what they achieve. Silence, stillness and time to “just be” help build resilience and nurture the human spirit, something every child needs to navigate an uncertain world. Her message is simple but powerful: every child needs at least one caring adult who is a steady light, offering kindness, acceptance and love so they can grow into confident, hopeful young people.
