Year 7-12 Formation Days: Growing in Faith, Community and Purpose
On Tuesday, 30 June, students from Years 7–12 participated in our annual Formation Day, a significant part of the faith life of Caroline Chisholm College. Across six unique programs, students stepped away from their normal classroom routine to engage in experiences of prayer, reflection, community building and personal growth.
Held both on campus and at off-site venues, each Formation Day was thoughtfully designed to meet the developmental and spiritual needs of students at each stage of their journey.
Our Year 7 students celebrated the completion of their first semester at the College by reflecting on the unique gifts and talents they bring to our community. Through activities focused on belonging, hospitality, positive relationships and intentional discipleship, students recognised that each person has an important role in creating a welcoming and faith-filled College community.
At Winbourne, our Year 8 students explored the theme "Love is patient, love is kind" (1 Corinthians 13:4), reflecting on what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God (Imago Dei). Through prayer, discussion and reflection, students recognised their unique dignity and gifts while exploring how patience, kindness and compassion strengthen relationships and build a more inclusive community. The day encouraged students to reflect God's love through their everyday words and actions.
Year 9 students remained on campus to deepen their understanding of stewardship. Through prayer experiences and reflective activities, they explored humanity's responsibility to care for God's creation and considered how they can actively protect and value the environment as faithful stewards of the world entrusted to them.
At Mt Schoenstatt, our Year 10 students focused on empathy, justice and hope. Guided by the "See, Judge, Act" model of Catholic Social Teaching, they reflected on their responsibility to stand in solidarity with others, recognise injustice and appreciate that God works through each of us to bring about positive change in our world.
Year 11 students embraced the theme The Joyful Way: A Path to Peace. Through shared stories, guided meditation, biblical micrography and personal reflection, students explored joy as one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and discovered how authentic joy leads to inner peace, stronger relationships and a deeper connection with God.
Our Year 12 students gathered at Penrith Baptist Church for a day of reflection as they prepare to conclude their journey at Caroline Chisholm College. Through prayer and discussion, they explored what it means to be "the light of the world" and "the salt of the earth," reflecting on how their baptism and years of formation at the College have prepared them to be the hands and feet of Christ. As they look towards graduation, students were challenged to embrace their calling to live lives of faith, service, compassion and hope in the wider community.
Across every year group, students gathered in reflection and prayer, shared meals together and strengthened the bonds within their homerooms and year groups. These experiences remind us that formation is about much more than knowledge, it is about nurturing the whole person and empowering our students to live lives grounded in faith, compassion, service and hope.
We extend our sincere thanks to the staff whose dedication, creativity and generosity made each Formation Day such a meaningful experience. Their commitment ensured our students were able to grow not only in knowledge and understanding but also in faith, relationships and their sense of purpose within our College community.
We look forward to seeing the fruits of today's experiences continue to shape the lives of our students as they seek to live the values of Caroline Chisholm through faith, courage, compassion, dignity, tolerance and justice.
