Sunday’s Gospel – “Do Not Be Afraid” (21 June)

Last Sunday’s Gospel shares one of Jesus’ most comforting messages: we do not need to be afraid, because God knows us, loves us, and is always with us. Jesus reminds the disciples that God cares even for the sparrows, and that we are worth far more. It is a beautiful reassurance for children and families that God sees every moment of our lives and walks beside us in times of worry or uncertainty.

At school, we see this message lived out each day as students try new things, show kindness to others, and choose to do what is right. Just as Jesus encouraged His followers, we encourage our students to be brave, to speak with honesty, and to trust that they are supported by a loving community.

As a school, we help our children grow in confidence by:

  • Normalising feelings and letting students know it’s okay to feel worried sometimes
  • Teaching calming strategies such as breathing, reflection, and quiet prayer
  • Celebrating small steps of courage in learning and friendships
  • Providing predictable routines that help students feel safe and secure
  • Offering gentle reassurance that they are valued and never alone

This week, may Jesus’ words inspire us all to live with hope and courage, remembering that we are precious in God’s eyes. Together, we continue to build a school community where every child feels safe, supported, and confident to shine.

Looking Forward to Term 3

As we approach the school holidays, we also look ahead with excitement to the beginning of Term 3. The new term brings fresh learning opportunities, renewed routines, and special moments for our community. One of the highlights will be our Grandparents Day celebration on Friday 24 July, held on the Feast of St Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary and the grandparents of Jesus.

This beautiful occasion invites us to honour the wisdom, love, and faith that grandparents share with their families. We look forward to welcoming our grandparents into the school for a morning of prayer, connection, and classroom experiences.
