As we reach the end of Term 2, I want to take a moment to thank our families for the warmth, patience and partnership you have shown throughout these past months. It has been a term not defined by a single moment, but by the quiet strength of a community that has chosen to look after one another and to keep our children firmly at the center of everything we do. As I reflect on the weeks behind us, I feel real pride in where Kingswood stands today and genuine optimism about the road ahead.

Caring for Our Community

Much of our focus this term has been on care — for our students, our families and our staff. We have worked steadily to ensure the right supports are in place and easy to reach, drawing on experienced wellbeing professionals as well as the trusted relationships within our own staff team. Our teachers have continued to provide the calm, consistent presence that children rely on and our wellbeing team has remained available to any family in need of a listening ear or a point of connection.

Recovery of this kind is not something reached in a single term. It is a steady and deliberate journey and we are committed to walking it carefully and patiently. What I can say with confidence is that the steps we have taken so far have been the right ones and the progress I have seen in our students, staff and families gives me every reason for optimism. We will allow this process to run its course and see it through to its proper conclusion, supported at every step by the strength of this community and by our partners in the Department of Education.

A Warm Welcome to Prospective Families

Last Saturday morning we had the pleasure of welcoming prospective families to Kingswood for an open morning and I could not be prouder of the students who helped us show them what makes our school special. A heartfelt thank you to our Prep and Year 6 students and all parents and staff who gave up part of their weekend to greet visitors, guide tours and answer questions with confidence and good humour. Our youngest and oldest students standing side by side, speaking so warmly about their school, told our visitors everything they needed to know about the Kingswood community. It was a wonderful reminder of the leadership and pride our students carry every day.

NAPLAN Results

We were also delighted to receive our 2026 NAPLAN results this term and they make for very pleasing reading. The results reflect the real impact of the work our teachers have invested in targeted, evidence-informed teaching and they confirm something we hold to be true: when we focus deliberately on specific areas of learning, our students respond. I want to acknowledge the dedication of our teaching team and the effort of our students, whose growth these results represent. We will continue to use this information thoughtfully to shape our teaching and to ensure every child at Kingswood is supported to shine.

Looking Ahead — A Term of Celebration

There is a great deal to look forward to next term. Term 3 will be a true celebration term as we mark a very special milestone: Kingswood Primary School’s 50th anniversary. Fifty years of learning, friendship and community is something well worth celebrating — and we intend to do exactly that.

The term will build towards a week of festivities that will bring together current families, former students and staff, and the wider Kingswood community to honour everything our school has been and everything it continues to be. A full rundown of events and the many ways families can be part of them, will be shared at the very start of next term, so please keep an eye on your communications. You won’t want to miss it.

To all our families, thank you for your trust, your kindness and your partnership throughout Term 2. I hope the upcoming break offers a welcome chance to rest and reconnect and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be a memorable term ahead.
