Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 3
I hope you all had a restful, warm and dry break over the holidays. Over the past few days, I have enjoyed hearing many exciting holiday stories, including trips to Coober Pedy, visits with grandparents, and even one student who watched all five Toy Story movies!
Thank you to everyone for your preparation for the return to school. It was wonderful to see students arrive on Monday morning looking refreshed, confident and ready to learn. By 9:10 am, you could have heard a pin drop across the school as classrooms were settled and learning was well underway.
A sincere thank you to our staff for all of their preparation for Term 3, and to Peter Sporn, who once again had the school looking fantastic and ready to welcome everyone back.
This term promises to be another busy and exciting one. Our students will participate in a range of School Sport Victoria (SSV) events, including football, netball, basketball and the State Cross Country Championships. We will also celebrate the Feast of the Assumption with a whole-school liturgy, hold our Father's Day Liturgy, and enjoy Footy Colours Day. Further information about these events will be shared in the coming weeks. Thank you in advance to our staff for the organisation and preparation that goes into making each of these events possible.
Exciting News for 2027
We are delighted to announce that, following consultation with the School Advisory Council and Catholic Education Sandhurst, our school will expand to four Foundation classes in 2027.
This exciting milestone reflects the overwhelming number of Foundation enrolment applications we have received. It is a wonderful endorsement of our thriving school community, the dedication and professionalism of our staff, the outstanding learning outcomes achieved by our students, and the welcoming, inclusive culture that makes our school such a special place.
As our community continues to grow, families can be assured that our Master Plan has been designed with this growth in mind. It includes staged development of both learning and play spaces, ensuring we continue to provide high-quality facilities while maintaining year-level groupings and ample outdoor play areas for all students.
It is a privilege to lead a school with such a strong reputation, where families are eager to enrol their children and become part of our community. We look forward to welcoming our newest Foundation families in 2027 and continuing to grow together.

Another exciting update:
NAPLAN results were released on Monday, and I am delighted to share that more than 80% of St Therese's students achieved the Exceeding or Strong proficiency level in seven of the ten NAPLAN domains across Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Grammar and Punctuation, and Spelling. (Yr 3&5)
This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work, commitment, and dedication of both our students and staff. I am incredibly proud of what they have accomplished and of the strong culture of high-quality teaching and learning that continues to flourish at St Therese's.
Term 3 Learning Conversations – Thursday 23 July (School Closure Day)
Bookings are now open for our Term 3 Learning Conversations. Please ensure you have read your child's end-of-semester report before your meeting, as it will form the basis of the conversation about your child's learning and progress.
Movie Night
Thank you to the Community Collective for organising our wonderful Movie Night. It was a fantastic community event, with plenty of popcorn, pyjamas, blankets and smiles. Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, we raised an amazing $1,800.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so generously to make the evening such a success. Congratulations and thank you to Tameika, Julie, Julia and the entire Community Collective team for their hard work and organisation.

Secondhand Uniforms
If you have any school uniforms you no longer need, we would be so grateful if you could donate them to school. The demand is growing.
School Hours (Repeat)
Please note that the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are still many children on the grounds prior to this time and there is no teacher on duty.
For the safety of your children, I ask that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30am.
Mobile Phone and Smartwatch Reminder (Repeat)
A reminder to families that all ‘smart’ devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches, must be handed to teachers first thing in the morning when students arrive at school. These devices are then securely stored for the duration of the school day and returned to students at dismissal time.
This practice supports a focused learning environment and aligns with our school and diocesan policies. We appreciate your ongoing support in reinforcing this expectation with your children.
