PE Update

P.E. in Term Two

We are having a busy, fun term in P.E. The junior students have just finished learning all the basics of playing basketball and thoroughly enjoyed being able to apply their skills in short games. Prep – 2 students are now focusing on soccer, learning how to pass, receive and dribble.

The senior students have just finished their focus on AFL; improving their marking, handballing and kicking skills. It was great to see everyone enjoying our round robin modified AFL games, trying to handball and kick to each other. They are now learning all about netball, focusing on not stepping with the ball and passing skills.

There has been lots happening with extra-curricular activities this term. It was amazing to have eight students represent our school at the division cross country event on Friday 9th May at Ballarat High School. Congratulations to the following students for completing either 2km or 3km:

  • Evie Martin-Laffey
  • Rory Dudley
  • Orlando Marong
  • Paddy Dudley
  • Teddy Whitla
  • Conall McKinley
  • Luca Pianta
  • Rohan Walsh

A special mention to Conall for placing 6th out of 73 competitors with a time of 12 minutes and 10 seconds. Conall then ran at the next level, Regional, at Warrnambool on Monday 26th May, beating his Ballarat time by a whole minute!

Our Year 5/6 students are also offered the opportunity to represent our school at the annual Eureka Winter Sports carnivals. They can select to be a member of a soccer, AFL or netball team. It was great to enter three netball teams, two soccer teams and one AFL team. We challenged our soccer and AFL players by entering them into A grade, where they rose to the challenge! Well done to all students for representing our school and choosing to participate!
