Supporting Student Learning During Absences – A Quick Guide for Parents

For secondary students, missing even a single day of school can have a real impact on their learning. It can leave them behind in class content, make it harder to complete tasks on time, and affect the overall quality of their work compared to their peers.

The good news is that parents and carers can play an important role in helping students stay on track — even when they’re absent. If your child is away from school, you can use the Lesson Plans feature in PAM to see what was covered that day in each subject. This makes it easier to discuss what they missed, help them catch up, and ease their return to class.

To access Lesson Plans in PAM:

1. Log in to your PAM account.

2. Select your absent child’s profile.

3. From the menu, choose "Lesson Plans."

4. Select each subject to view its plan for the day.

These lesson plans are written by your child’s teachers and outline the key activities, topics, or assignments covered in class. They’re a simple but powerful way to stay informed and involved.

REMINDER: Keep PAM up to date

While you're in PAM, please also take a moment to check that any outstanding excursion permissions and medical details are up to date. Consent forms are now handled entirely through PAM, and it's essential that this information is completed on time to ensure your child can safely and fully participate in school activities.

Keeping these details current not only helps the school meet its duty of care, but also avoids delays or disruptions to your child’s learning and participation.
