National Reconciliation Week

Yr 6 and their Foundation buddies came together to celebrate National Reconciliation Week . The theme this week is Bridging Now to Next #2025

Thanks to our Foundation Buddies for helping to create beautiful art piece- we will have photos next week!!

🌟 In Science, Mrs Holt and Year 3/4 have been investigating friction through hands on science investigation. As part of their learning, they rolled various objects – such as toy cars, sponges, and erasers – down ramps covered with different materials including aluminium foil and sandpaper. Students measured how far each object travelled and discussed how the surface materials influenced the movement. Through this engaging activity, they developed a deeper understanding of how friction can affect motion. It is wonderful to see their curiosity and collaboration in action!

🌟 Taekwondo

Our primary students have been participating in Taekwondo lessons over the past few weeks with George and Trent from Hall’s Taekwondo. We have seen our students gain confidence in punches, strikes and kicks. We have seen an improvement in discipline, strength, speed and accurate techniques. Students are practising offensive and defensive positions.

🌟Athletics

Congratulations to our Primary Athletics Age Champions who were presented with their medals last week at the Primary Assembly

Well done to all the medal winners !

🌟Year 6

Yr 6 students have been working hard on developing narrative stories as they investigate the story Waves-  a collection of short stories that tell of the reasons across the centuries of why people have travelled to live in Australia. This history and literacy unit will culminate in a visit to the Immigration Museum in Melbourne at the end of June.

We have been practising writing narrative stories about finding special objects

Thanks to Sean for sharing his story !

Imagine

We were flying over an ocean of water that was blue and shining in the sun. Jeff was looking out at the window and in the distance he saw an island with a massive mountain coming almost from below the ocean. The plane started to shake. Jeff blacked out and when he woke up there was no one else there. The plane was being pulled into the water by the tide.

Jeff leapt out of the plane just as it sank to the bottom of the ocean.

Jeff glanced back at the plane and he let out a huge sigh of relief because he didn't go down with the plane! As he walked over to the plan trees that covered the island, he looked into the distance to see if there was anything on the island.

Behind the trees, into the mountains looked a greenish, grey temple which caught his eye. It was humongous! Jeff made the treacherous journey up the hill to the ancient temple.

Jeff went up a flight of stairs which felt like it went on forever. When he finally reached the top he saw a long, dark hallway with the light right at the end. Jeff slowly crept up to the light. It was getting brighter with every step he took. As he reached the light, he stepped down into a small tight cave. As he weaved through the rocks of the cave , he saw a magical cave where everything was double its normal size.

Jeff went round the island finding everything was so big! He eventually found the gateway to the lost city of Xoria and he was able to build a radio signal from what he found where the plane went down. Jeff sent out a signal three times and then gave up as he thought no-one would come looking for him.

Three years later Jeff was going to find some food when he saw a boat on the river. He felt so relieved when he saw the boat - they couldn't believe he was still alive and he couldn't believe he was either ! ....By Sean B
