Minimising the Spread of Illness – What You Can Do

There are several viruses and other contagious illnesses traveling throughout our community and school right now. We are therefore asking students, staff, and parents to help minimise the spread of illness at school.

Here are some ways we can stop the spread:

  • Please keep your child at home if you think they have an illness that could spread to others or are experiencing any of the following: fever or chills, cough, sore throat, body aches and fatigue.
  • Teach/remind your child to wash their hands frequently and to cover their nose or mouth with a tissue or elbow before a sneeze or cough.
  • Consider getting a Flu shot for you and your family members.
  • Individuals with gastro should remain away from school until 48 hours after their symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea have completely subsided

We understand that it can be a difficult decision to know when to send your child to school or keep them home. Every situation is individual and every child has different needs. Attendance is important, but it is essential that the students feel well enough to be able to learn and participate in school and not put other community members at risk. Often children are sent to school when they are still experiencing these symptoms to be then sent home again.

If a student presents to First-Aid with cold/flu or gastro symptoms, we will triage and help determine whether your student needs to go home or can stay at school. If you have specific questions about your child’s illness, we encourage you to call their healthcare provider for guidance.

As your school medical team, we do our best to keep everyone at school healthy as possible. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation!

Will your child's younger siblings be joining us at MSCW?

College Drop Off and Pick Up

While the Burke St entrance may be convenient, it is also our bus entrance and can become highly congested during peak times.

For a safer and smoother process, please use the designated drop-off/pick-up bay on Lilleys Road, which provides easy and secure access to the school grounds. Additionally, the Visitor and Executive parking area in front of Administration is reserved for those with prior appointments and should not be used for student drop-off or pick-up.

The safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation.
