Prep Update

Our Learning - Weeks 6 & 7
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
-To recognise that problems are a normal part of life and name some problems, as well as think of some solutions to problems.
-To identify how people might feel when others do things that are not fair or kind and talk about how what we do, can affect others.
English:
-Our phonics lessons will be focusing on the sounds the letters ‘e’, 'qu' and 'z' make and discover words and objects that begin with those sounds, as well as practising writing those letters.
-Look at images and describe what we see to assist with developing our oral language.
-Continue to read and discuss fairytales and character traits of the characters within them. We will also be exploring 'mixed up' fairytales.
-Continue to practise creating writing. Also continue to write short words (CVC - consonant, vowel, consonant) with the sounds we have learnt thus far.
Maths:
-Continue to build our knowledge of concepts such as subitising, counting, number bonds, tally marks, addition in our Maths Daily Review.
-To sort and graph information or data and answer yes/no questions about the data.
-Explore 2D and 3D shapes and connect them to real-life objects.
Inquiry:
Our Inquiry unit continues to focus on change.
-To understand how telephones have changed over time.
-To share their ideas about how things have changed and explore how Bananas in Pyjamas has changed over time and the reasons why.
-To understand how transportation has changed over time and discuss how Thomas the Tank Engine has changed over the years and the reasons why.
Friendly Reminders:
-Students are required to bring their blue reader bag to school daily to enable teachers to place new sounds being learnt in their phonics books, as well as checking in on students' knowledge of letter sounds, Heart words.
-Students names on clothing - please ensure that your child's belongings are named. A lot of items are being misplaced, especially school jumpers/jackets. If items are named/labelled, they will most likely get back to their owner.
-Monday 9th June - Kings' birthday public holiday- students are not required at school.
