Our Learning - Weeks 6 & 7
During this fortnight in the 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading: Using EL&L cards to explore capital letters, finding letters from their name. Predicting or changing ending of stories while looking at books. Predicting theme of stories based on the front cover of the book. Reading stories based on the pictures |
Pre-Writing: Visual tracking games. Writing names or mark making to identify their artwork Developing strength in our arms and hands through ball games Using Tommy Turtle language and cards to write names |
STEM : Developing an understanding of the weight as they use scales. Predicting what weighs more and how to make the scales balance Researching birds in our environment, going on bird hunts, drawing them and finding ways |
Inquiry : Our World, our future- developing an understanding of the impact our actions have on the environment now and in the future. Understanding and implement reduce/reuse/recycle; Embed sustainable practices into their daily routine; Understand how rubbish impacts on other animals and creatures |
Social & emotional learning : Focusing on how our body feels when we have different emotions. Recognising how others feel using body language and verbal language Continuing to explore the Zones of Regulation to identify how we are feeling, what made them feel that way and implementing strategies we can use to return to the 'green zone.'

Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
