National Reconciliation Week & Samoan Language Week

National Reconciliation Week

27 May – 3 June

This is an important time in Australia where we reflect on the relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.

This year’s theme, "Now More Than Ever," reminds us that we all have a role to play in creating a fair and respectful country for everyone.

At our school, we are marking this week with a range of activities across all year levels.

Our Koori students have been invited to connect with our local secondary school Alkira, to partake in a Smoking Ceremony.

By taking part in National Reconciliation Week, we are helping to build understanding, respect, and a stronger sense of unity in our school and beyond.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and reflect together on how we can all walk the path of reconciliation.

Samoan Language Week – Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa

26 May – 1 June 2025

This week we celebrated Samoan Language Week, a time to honour and uplift the language, culture, and identity of the Samoan community.

The 2025 theme is “Tautua i le alofa, manuia le lumana’i – Serve in love for a blessed future”.

At Hillsmeade Primary School, we are proud to support our Samoan students and families.

Let’s all take a moment to say “Talofa!” and show our support for Gagana Sāmoa!
