STEAM News

Year 1 and Year 2
Students have been learning about the history of Lego and how it has helped children who are neuro diverse express their creativity and wonderful ideas. They were presented with a series of Lego build challenges and it was amazing to see what they came up with.
Year 4
Upon returning from camp, students were challenged to build a tent which had to meet the following design criteria. The tent had to be waterproof and big enough to fit three cotton balls comfortably. Added features like a fireplace around the tent site were also included by many students.
Year 6
Students took a trip around the world and used the design process to recreate a famous landmark. Using limited materials, we had the Statue of Liberty, a Christ the Redeemer, the pyramids of Giza, the Taj Mahal, the Colosseum and Big Ben. We also had the Burj Khalifa, the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge and the Golden Gate Bridge. It was amazing to see how students shared ideas to make the most of the building materials they had access to.
Year 6D
Students in 6D had a unique challenge this week to design something for me to wear! They were given 5 icy pole sticks, 5 pieces of coloured card, 5 pipe cleaners and 1 metre of tape and about 30 minutes to create something. I ended up with two fabulous belts, one personalised with my initials, sunglasses, hair bands with a fringe attached, a handbag with a woven paper pattern (!), earrings, necklaces, bangles and several hats, one being of a duck! I even had some pink false eyelashes which were simply stunning.
