Dear Families,
The weeks are flying, and it will be holidays before we know it. Currently all staff are busy writing reports and getting ready for parent teacher interviews, keep a look out on Compass as bookings will go live later this week.
We want to give a shout out to our students who had the best assembly yet on Friday 30th May. All students were living our OPS values and showed strong engagement and enthusiasm for what was a long assembly. Everyone's efforts were greatly appreciated.
Our Year 4-6 students are in the midst of completing the Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS), this is conducted in all government schools and provides data that helps the department understand student perspectives of their school and to improve the schooling experience for students.
This week we are excited to welcome our Senior Education Improvement Leader, Kevin Murphy, to meet with the School Improvement Team (SIT) as we monitor our Annual Implementation Goals and make plans for the remainder of the year.
We welcome Miss Esposito to Year 1/2. 1/2D will now be known as 1/2E.
Emily comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience, coming over to us from another local SaGE school. We are very excited to have her join us and become part of the OPS team.
Please continue reading for other important updates and exciting happenings around the school.
On Sunday the 8th of June, it is World Ocean Day, and on Thursday 12 June, OPS will celebrate this important day.
Our Year 6 Marine Ambassadors have organised a special day, and our student leaders also have other activities planned to highlight the importance of caring for our ocean.
Students are invited to wear a 'touch of blue' i.e. something small, like a hair band, sweat band or ribbon. Full school uniform is expected.
Last Friday at Assembly, we started to unpack the OPS indigenous logo.
From the information provided to the school by the artist, the students got the opportunity to be reminded or learn about the aspects of our logo and how all of them have been brought together to create the full logo. As a school we are going to continue to learn more about the significance of each aspect and come together at futures assemblies to learn together.
We were also excited to announce that Ms Roszbach is part of our new Inclusion team and will be our Marrung Champion. She will be attending a meeting at the Aboriginal Advancement League in the coming weeks with other SaGE network schools.
The president and Committee of the Bentleigh RSL have sent an appreciation certificate to OPS for raising $333.65 for the 2025 ANZAC Day Appeal.
The money raised provides support to ex-servicemen/women and their dependents in necessitous circumstances, to assist in providing for:
The Hoodies have cemented themselves as firm favourites around OPS! It looks sure to become a staple in all students' uniform kit.
There is still stock at the front office, however we are sold out of sizes 8, 10 and 12. We hope to get the new order delivered in the next 2-3 weeks.
With thanks,
Anna-Marie and Aaron
