NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

Next week is National Reconciliation Week (NRW). The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

Please read more details about the significance of this week in the Student Wellbeing section of our newsletter.

PERFORMING ARTS

This term in Performing Arts, the Grade 1/2 students are diving into the exciting world of emotions! We’ve been learning how to express feelings using our faces, bodies, and voices, as well as how to recognise emotions in others. Using puppets, we've experimented with changing our voices to match different emotions and characters. We’ve transformed into robots, using peer feedback to help us express feelings through movement and facial expressions. In the Bus Game, costumes helped us step into character and bring emotions to life. It’s been a joyful, creative journey so far, and as you can see, we're having an amazing time!

HILAT’S – BEING OPEN TO THE NEW

As part of our High Impact Learner Agency Trait’s, we are moving to our next whole school focus which is on “Being Open to the New”.

Being Open to the New encourages students to accept that it’s okay not to know, inviting them to explore new territory. This mindset nurtures mental health, fosters a growth mindset, enhances problem solving, sparks curiosity, and boosts adaptability and confidence. It also requires a willingness to consider diverse perspectives and experiences.

Our staff completed a professional learning session run by Krysten O’Leary after school this week exploring how this HILAT can be embedded in the curriculum planning each week. This included looking at the questioning that happens in the classroom during lessons.

We will continue to communicate our focus on HILAT’s each week including the elements that make up the learning continuum for Being Open to the New. In this way you can use this language at home as well.

MID-TERM 2 MEET WITH THE PRINCIPAL TEAM

Don’t forget that next week (Wednesday 28th May) we have our next Mid-Term Meet with the Principal Team. This will be via Webex from 7.30pm. The sessions are held at the mid-point of each term as another forum to ask questions, provide feedback and suggestions and continue our strong home school partnership.  Here is the link: https://eduvic.webex.com/eduvic/j.php?MTID=m43b4d78da9825f6b8bfe63017d90ca95

ENROLMENT FOR 2026

There continues to be strong interest in our school for students enrolling in 2026. Each week we run an organised school tour and the feedback we are getting from parents attending these tours about our school and the perception of it in the community is positive. If you have a child starting school next year, please ensure that you fill out an enrolment form now.
