Principal's News

There was a sea of pink at our school on Friday when our staff and students dressed in pink to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness and to raise funds. Thank you to Wilma who initiated the day and to families for your support of this most worthy cause.

Professional Learning Day

Last Tuesday staff gathered at the Northern Region Office and worked for the day in sessions facilitated by Senior Manager, Sandra Ritchie. This day was part of our preparations for our cyclical review which is held every 4 years in all MACS Schools in the Archdiocese and will be conducted at HR in September, 2025.

Prep Tours and Interviews

Our Prep interviews are progressing nicely and we are enjoying the opportunity to meet our 2026 Prep students and their parents as part of our induction and welcome to Holy Rosary. We can confirm that we will have two prep classes, with two remaining tours scheduled for this term. It is  very exciting to be welcoming children and their families to our school and I thank you for promoting HR with your family and friends. We have limited spaces in all other classes for 2026.

Respect

In recent days we have had a few incidents on the playground that have a similar theme and teachers are working with children on our expectations around speaking with respect. We recognise that conflict is inevitable, especially in a small playspace but when challenges arise we have been reminding children that while it is appropriate to speak their mind and to explain why they are unhappy with a situation it is critical that their tone is assertive, but not aggressive, and that ‘put downs’ are inappropriate. We use ‘THINK’ to guide our communication: is it true? helpful? inspiring/important? necessary? kind?

Change of OSHC Provider

In Term 3 our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provider will change from TeamKids to MACSEYE.  MACSEYE is a newly approved registered provider, set up by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to offer a range of early childhood and school aged care programs.

The first day of service will be Monday 21st July.  Further details will be provided as I have this information.

King’s Birthday

Monday 9th June is a public holiday which means that school will be closed and TeamKids will not be operational.

Parent Workshops

We invite parents from Prep - 6 to join an engaging workshop aimed at strengthening the partnership between home and school while enhancing student learning, primarily in English and Mathematics.

In this session, we'll delve into various aspects of the school curriculum, teaching methodologies, and effective ways to support your child's educational journey at home. We'll demonstrate our approaches to teaching reading, writing (including spelling), and mathematics. You’ll easily be able to transfer what you learn to the home environment.

Expect an interactive and enjoyable experience as you engage with the content. At this stage, we're offering a session today, Monday 2 June and another Friday 6 June, from 9 am to 11 am in the staffroom.   Participants are only required to enrol in one session.

While participation is optional, if you believe this workshop could benefit you, sign up using the provided Google Form. To ensure your full focus and maximise learning opportunities, kindly arrange for childcare during the session.

Numbers will be capped at 20 and this form will be closed when that number is reached. For any queries, feel free to reach out to Maria or Sarah.   We look forward to your participation.

Enjoy Week 7!
