Story Seekers Book Project Club: A Powerful Term of Growth, Unity, and Legacy

As we conclude Term 1 and journey through the first five weeks of Term 2. What began as a small group of students with a vision to tell the untold stories within our community has now grown into a movement, one that is changing the way we see each other, connect with one another, and celebrate our shared identity.

A Community of 43 Story Seekers, And Growing

From an initial 32 students in Term 1, our club has now expanded to 43 passionate Story Seekers. This growth is more than just numbers, it’s a testament to the power of storytelling to bring people together. Each student has stepped up not just as an interviewer, but as a listener, an advocate, and a storyteller committed to capturing the voices that make our school unique.

Doubling Our Efforts: Weekly Interviews Every Monday and Tuesday

To match our growing ambition, we’ve increased our output, now conducting two interviews each week, every Monday and Tuesday. This rhythm has brought energy, purpose, and momentum to our mission. We’ve had the privilege of hearing from individuals whose stories span cultures, roles, and experiences, from Afghani students to executive staff, each interview uncovers a new facet of the extraordinary community we call home.

These stories capture experiences of migration, leadership, identity, challenge, and triumph. And yet, our work is far from finished, we are still seeking four more voices to complete our collection. If you know a student, staff member, or teacher whose story deserves to be heard, we welcome your suggestions with open arms.

A Turning Point: Our First Sponsor!

We’re incredibly proud to announce a major milestone in our journey, Print Works, a local printing company, has officially joined us as our sponsor. Their support means our book won’t just live in digital form; it will be printed, bound, and shared. This book will become a tangible legacy, a testament to the richness and resilience of our school community.

This sponsorship isn’t just about funding, it’s a vote of confidence in our mission. It affirms the value of every voice we capture and the importance of preserving these stories for future generations.

More Than a Book: A Legacy in the Making

At its core, the Story Seekers project is not about ink on paper. It’s about connection, representation, and empowerment. It’s about showing students that their stories matter. It’s about helping staff feel seen. It’s about breaking down barriers and building understanding. Every interview is a bridge, between cultures, between generations, between individuals who might never have known how much they share in common.

Each student participating in this project has demonstrated remarkable empathy, maturity, and creativity. You are not just learners, you are leaders and changemakers. You are preserving the voices of our community for the students who will come after you, and that is a legacy worth celebrating.

Let’s Keep the Momentum Alive

To all 43 of our incredible Story Seekers: thank you. Your commitment, compassion, and energy are the lifeblood of this project. Let’s carry this momentum through the rest of the term and into the final stages of our journey. There are still stories waiting to be told, and together, we’ll continue to uncover the heart of Greater Shepparton Secondary College, one voice at a time.

With heartfelt gratitude and pride,
