LS3 Special Guest this week - Samar from Wellsprings for Women
On Tuesday 20th May, Learning Space 3 Seniors had a very special visit from Samar, a passionate advocate from Wellsprings for Women—a community organisation in Dandenong that supports women from refugee and migrant backgrounds through education, wellbeing programs and connection.
During our Inquiry and Religious Education lesson, Samar spoke to the children about the powerful differences between refugees and migrants, and the emotional journey people face when leaving their home countries. Our children were deeply engaged as Samar helped them understand how difficult it must be to leave behind family, friends, culture, and everything familiar in search of safety or a better life.
Our students proudly shared what they’ve been learning about why people journey to new places, and how each person’s journey becomes an important part of their life story.
These stories, they realised, are filled with strength, courage, and the hope for belonging. The visit left a lasting impact—our students walked away with greater empathy, respect, and a strong sense of social responsibility. Our children will continue to explore and understand how important it is to welcome, support, and stand in solidarity with those who start over in a new country.
What an inspiring and heartwarming experience for all in LS3.

Clinic 1 Writing
Clinic 1 has been doing a great job learning Procedural Writing for the last few weeks. They have taken part in several different language experiences where they have watched how to make something and follow different instructions, put these instructions in order, write a sentence using new vocabulary they have learnt and finally eat what they have made.
The students have made and written about hot chocolate, fairy bread and jam sandwiches. They have shown so much progress with their oral language and ability to form letters and write some sounds. Well done Clinic 1!
Inquiry Sessions
This term, students have been learning about their family history and their family stories. A couple of weeks ago, students where given a Home task where they were asked to interview a family member about their family story and their job descriptions.
During school time, we asked students to share what they had learnt and to share this with a group of other students. Students had a wonderful time proudly sharing their stories and listening to their peers stories.
Questions were asked and answered and pictures were shared. The teachers even shared some of their family stories that have shaped who they are today. It was a great session!

They may wear their shorts under their tracksuit to keep warm. They will need to bring their drink bottle, snack and lunch. Please ensure they dress warmly and have a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast. A change of clothes especially shoes and socks which they leave at school maybe a good idea.
