
School Council comprises of DET employees, parent members and coopted community members.
- DET employees include Monique Corcoran, Jodi Price, Sheree Bretel and Paula Fleming
- Parent members include Aden Hogan (President), Emma Thompson (Vice President), Adele Chen (Treasurer), Jodie Hewson, Aftab Hussain and Jessica Rabba
- Community members include Geraldine Oborne and Leanne McDonald
Tuesday 6th May, School Councils members took part in School Governance training, focusing on:
- the key principles underpinning effective governance
- the different roles & responsibilities of school council
- how school council operates
As we are moving into a School Review, with a strong focus on evaluating the current School Strategic Plan (SSP) and establishing the new SSP, school councillors are encouraged to further training in Strategic Planning, including increasing understanding of the:
- strategic planning process
- annual planning reports
- type of data available to assist in monitoring the School Strategic Plan
School Council met Tuesday 20th May at 6.30pm. Discussion points of note include:
- Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) School Review
- Service Agreements - TeamKids and Canteen Licences
- PSW current uniform stock
- Breakfast Club (initial stages of consideration)
- BYOD commencing Year 3 in 2026
- Junior School Phonics program, including decodable readers / books
The 2024 Annual Report was tabled at the AGM, providing an opportunity to discuss the report, correlating data including learning, wellbeing, engagement, school highlights and financial summary. Thank you to the parents who attended to celebrate LPS 2024 milestones.
In Victoria, all schools must meet the minimum standards for school registration. The minimum standards provide a foundation for quality schools through:
- good governance
- strong financial management
- effective curriculum
- sound teaching practices
- safe environments for children
LPS is currently working through quality assurance processes, including endorsement of School Policies. School Policies are found on our website.
LPS has a Policy Sub Committee which focuses on policy development, consultation and ratification. The Policy Sub Committee:
- meet once a month
- are always seeking feedback to ensure that policies are pure and authentic to purpose.
