School Excellence Plan
Recently we have updated our School Excellence Plan (SEP). Our three main priorities for the next 4 years are:
1. Student Growth and Attainment: To maximise student achievement and progress in reading and numeracy through our Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on explicit teaching practices.
2. School Community Wellbeing: Student wellbeing will continue to be a focus through our suite of Social and Emotional Learning programs.
3. High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE): To enhance our High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities for all students in order to broaden opportunities for student success.
Within the previous bulletin I provided some information about what Explicit Teaching is. Below is some information about how we do our professional learning for this current strategic focus.
Today I sat in on our Stage 2 PLC (professional learning community). All of our teachers from Stage 2 completed professional learning focused on Gradual Release of Responsibility, one of the 8 strategies of Explicit Teaching identified by the NSW Department of Education. Stage 2 teachers will plan focused teaching observations with colleagues over the next 5 weeks as a result of todays PLC.
Grip Leadership
No stopping the Boambee Public School SRC Leaders !
Recently our SRC Leaders attended the GRIP Leadership conference at the racecourse. Sending our entire SRC is part of our commitment to High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) within our new strategic plan.
Despite the weather, the conference went ahead so we worked hard to get our students there. Our students certainly reaped the rewards, 23 of the 33 attendees were Boambee students. Most of the 200 potential participants did not attend, so our students received outstanding attention from the GRIP leadership delivery team.
Our student leaders learnt many skills and strategies of leadership including: Responsibilities, Leadership Through Friendship, Ideas to Help Others and Achieving Your Idea before the End of The year.
Yesterday I received some wonderful feedback from a parent about their child's experiences of the GRIP leadership and the SRC.
Hi Phil,
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you to you and Mr Moore for organising such a great learning opportunity with the recent GRIP Leadership Conference at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club.
My daughter had a fantastic time and got so much out of the day - it was such a valuable experience for her. I really appreciate that the invitation was extended to all SRC students. Opportunities like this help build their confidence and leadership skills, and I’m sure it’ll make a lasting impact.
A special thanks to Mr Moore for taking the time to arrange this and for going above and beyond - just as he did last year for my daughter in the classroom. It truly means a lot and makes such a difference.
Thanks again for supporting and encouraging our future leaders!
Public Education - the best education money can't buy!
P&C Meeting
Monday's P& C meeting was excellent, and it resulted in some productive contributions and commitments from the P&C team:
- A Year 5 camp fundraiser - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!
- A $1000 donation to the school for a popcorn machine.
- More fundraising plans for 2026 to support our families during the cost of living challenges many people are facing.
Well done to Tas and the P&C for your excellent support of education at Boambee Public School. A special thanks to Kylie Casey who has continually supported our school with amazing graphic design. An example of what she does for the school and the P&C below:
