Student Achievement Reports - Semester 1, 2025

Individual student reports will be available on the Compass Parent Portal on Friday 27th June at 3.30pm.

In 2025, our Rangeview Student Reports will look different to previous years. This is to compliment the implementation of the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0 in Mathematics and English, as well as our new school values.Schools are required to report student achievement and progress to parents and carers twice a year. Rangeview Primary School’s schedule of reports being released mid-year and at the end of the year, has not changed.

What will the report look like?

Many components of the student report will remain familiar, including the:

• Teacher Comment

• Effort and Behaviour Scale

• School Attendance

• Student Achievement Progression Point Scales

• EAL Pathways (for students who have an EAL Report in English)

• Values Scale

• Semester Activities

• Future Learning

• Specialist Subject Semester Learning, Work Habits and Achievement

With our new report format, you will now see:

• Our new school Values of Respect, Resilience and Kindness

• A section dedicated to student English achievement, including a description of semester learning and student progress indicated against descriptors based on the Victorian Curriculum English 2.0 Achievement Standards (Please note that EAL reports may not have these descriptors).

• A section dedicated to student Mathematics achievement, including a description of semester learning and student progress indicated against descriptors based on the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0 Achievement Standards.

Changes to Mathematics Reporting

With the VCAA release of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, from 2025, schools are required to report one overarching teacher judgement (Progression Point).

In previous years students would receive a teacher judgement against the three mathematical strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability. This year in Mathematics, your child will only receive one teacher judgement against the Achievement Standard as a whole, providing a single aggregated score.

As the curriculum Achievement Standards reported on have changed, the first time you receive a report under the Mathematics 2.0 curriculum, it will only show achievement and not progress. For all reports after this, progress will be shown against the single achievement standard.

We hope that our new reporting format will be clearer and provide a comprehensive understanding of achievement. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your child’s report at our Student Led Conferences in the week commencing 30th June 2025.

Foundation Parent Teacher Interviews 2025

The Foundation Parent Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 11 of Term 2, 2025. Each interview will run for 15 minutes.

Students are welcome, however they are not required to attend.

The dates of the interviews will be:

Monday 30th June

• 3.45pm – 7.00pm Foundation

Wednesday 2nd July

• 2.15pm - 6.00pm Foundation

The Parent Teacher Interviews can be booked via the Compass Parent Portal.

The booking portal will open at 9.00am on Wednesday 25th June and will close on Monday 30th June 9.00am. 

You have the option to request a translator in your preferred language to attend the interview. We hope this could further support our families.

Level 1-6 Student Led Conferences 2025

We are delighted to announce Student Led Conferences will be returning in Week 11 of Term 2, 2025 for Levels 1-6. Each conference will run for 15 minutes and will include the student, parent/s or carer and classroom teacher/s. The first 8-10 minutes is for the conference and the remaining 5 minutes is offered if a discussion is required between the parent and teacher only.

Your child will lead a discussion about their learning and may refer to work samples in their My Learning Folder, workbooks and their iPad. Students will prepare for the conference during class time. The My Learning Folder will be sent home for you to keep at the end of the school year.

The Student-Led Conferences can be booked via the Compass Parent Portal.

The booking portal will open at 9.00am on Wednesday 25th June and will close on Monday 30th June 9.00am.

The Student-Led Conference is a powerful way for students to share their learning and I encourage parents and carers to take part in this opportunity.

Specialist Parent Teacher Interviews 2025

Specialist Interviews this semester will be held in the Library and must be booked.

Each specialist interview will be 7 minutes.

As our specialist teachers work with all students across the school, there are only a very limited number of interview times available. We encourage interviews if you have questions around the learning in our specialist areas, or would like specific information on your child’s progress. For general updates on your child’s learning, please refer to their Semester Report.

Preventing and Addressing Racism in Schools

Everyone in our school community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. We will not tolerate racism or religious discrimination in our school communities.

The Department of Education has released the new Preventing and Addressing Racism in Schools Policy. This can be found at: Preventing and Addressing Racism in Schools: Policy | VIC.GOV.AU | Policy and Advisory Library.

We encourage you to report incidents of racism to the school. The Report Racism hotline is also available 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) on 1800 722 476

Level 4 Scienceworks Excursion

On Thursday 5th June, 4M and 4J went on an excursion to Scienceworks in Spotswood.

Students took part in three fantastic workshops on the day.

Roller Coaster Engineer - With the support of their informative presenter, the students observed the physics of energy, force and inertia as they designed, tested and modified their roller coasters.

Cool Stuff - This Very Cool liquid nitrogen show included demonstrations to illustrate the properties of solids, liquids and gases. Changes of state, expansion and contraction were all demonstrated using lots of fog, froth and fun.

Tilt - In this Planetarium show, the students explored how the four seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth's axis combined with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun and how the seasons and length of day vary across the Earth, from the poles to the equator.
