Market Day & Battle of the Bands

Over the past fortnight, we’ve had the pleasure of enjoying two standout events at St Kilda Park – each one a reflection of the incredible creativity, energy and community spirit that defines our school.

Market Day Magic – A Student-Driven Success

Our annual Year 6 Market Day was once again a huge hit, with students across all year levels coming together for a day of fun, excitement and entrepreneurial flair. Our Year 6 students worked hard to plan, design and run a range of engaging stalls – from games and competitions to food and craft – and their efforts certainly paid off.

We're thrilled to share that Market Day raised over $2000! These funds will go directly toward celebrating our Year 6 cohort’s final year at SKiPPS, helping to cover costs for their end-of-year graduation celebration and the production of their Year 6 yearbook.

The photos of the day show the buzz – the joy on the faces of stallholders and customers alike, and the way our students embraced the experience with such pride and purpose.

A Night to Remember – Parent Battle of the Bands

Our talented parent community stepped into the spotlight at last week’s Parent Battle of the Bands, held at the iconic Prince Bandroom in St Kilda. With a full house and a stage packed with local talent, the atmosphere was electric. Our SKiPPS parents took to the stage with passion, energy and serious musical chops – putting on a show that made us all incredibly proud.

While our band didn’t qualify for the Grand Final at the Corner Hotel later in the year, they absolutely did SKiPPS proud with their performance. The event was a fantastic celebration of what happens when music, parents and purpose collide – and the cheers from the SKiPPS crowd proved just how much it meant to be there.

More than just a great night out, the Battle of the Bands also helps raise vital funds for music education across participating schools. Final fundraising amounts (which will go toward supporting our own music and performing arts program) will be confirmed after the Grand Final in September.

A huge thank you to all involved – performers, organisers and supporters – for representing SKiPPS with such heart.

Both Market Day and the Parent Battle of the Bands were standout events for different reasons – but they each served as a reminder of what makes SKiPPS so unique. They showed the creativity and confidence of our students, the generosity and spirit of our families, and the strong connections that bind our school together.

We are so proud of our students and thankful for our incredible parents who make events like these possible. These moments build memories, strengthen relationships and remind us just how lucky we are to be part of such a vibrant school community.
