Kindy Bilbies and Rosellas
On Tuesday the 20th of May the kindy children celebrated internation Bee Day!
Our kindy playground had recently been home to many bees as they collected pollen brimming from a playground tree. We discussed where bees live, what they make and how they collect the pollen. We even moved our body like a bee whilst listening to the musical piece “Flight of the bumblebee”.
We used our imaginations to create bee’s from yellow playdough and recycled materials and made our very own bumblebees!
Pre-Kindergarten - Little Adventurers
This term has been a very special one in our Pre-Kindy class as we’ve welcomed many new children into our group. It’s been heartwarming to see new friendships forming and our classroom community growing stronger each week.
We’ve also made and exciting transition from offering one day to two days which has been very popular amongst families. This is giving us even more time to explore, learn and play together!
Our theme for the term is ‘God’s Creations’. Each week we’ve been focusing on a different part of God’s world, such as the land, the sky, plants, animals and people. Through hands-on activities such as painting, collaging, playdough, songs and stories the children have been discovering the beauty of the world around them.
Year 5 Bandicoots and Dingoes
This term, in Year 5 we have been learning all sorts of exciting new Maths concepts -but one of our favourites has been exploring area and perimeter. We've taken our learning to the next level by designing our very own bedrooms! Each student carefully planned out the layout, choosing furniture and deciding where everything should go. We then calculated the dimensions of each item, working out the area and perimeter to make sure everything would fit perfectly. It was a fun and practical way to apply our maths skills, and we’re proud of how much we’ve learned!
In our Literacy lessons this term, Year 5s has been working hard to uplevel our narrative writing. We've learned how to make our stories more exciting and engaging by adding similes, adjectives, and adverbs to bring our characters and settings to life. Whether it's describing a stormy night as “dark as a cave” or a character who tiptoes quietly and cautiously through a mysterious forest, we’ve been practising how to paint vivid pictures with our words. Through planning, talking, and sharing ideas, we’ve become more confident writers who know how to hook our readers and make our stories shine!
