Assembly
Class 4/5 with Kathryn
In writing this term we have been analysing different texts like ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl and ‘Five Minute Stories’ by Enid Blyton to learn how authors make their stories interesting and engaging. Some writing strategies that these authors have used include ‘sizzling starts’, ‘tightening tension’, ‘dynamic dialogue’ and ‘show, don’t tell’.
On Book Day, when we all got to dress up, the grade 3-6s were so lucky to join a live online Zoom meeting with one of our favourite authors… Andy Griffiths. He told us all about his creative writing process… and we even got a sneak peek of his new book ‘The Land of Lost Things: Adventures Unlimited’.
4/5K presented our own ‘Adventures Unlimited’ Andy Griffiths pictures, and also read out a ‘sneak peak’ of our 1,000+ word short stories that we have entered into the local Mount Beauty Writers Festival competition… fingers crossed one of us WINS the $350 first prize or the $150 second prize!
We have also entered our drawings into the State Library of Victoria’s competition to WIN one Andy Griffiths' new books!
So here’s our pictures and short story ‘sneak peeks’… we hope you like them .
