Thank you to the families and staff who attended the Mindfull Aus parent/teacher workshop on Monday afternoon. This was a very informative session and it was great to hear from participating families, just how much it was appreciated.
Our students also gained some great learnings from the student workshops and, over the next year, Mindfull Aus will be continuing to work with our school, to support teachers with the implementation of this Social and Emotional Program. Many thanks to AGL for their support in providing access to this program.
Due to Monday's extreme weather conditions, Year 5 skateboarding had to be cancelled. This has now been rescheduled for tomorrow morning.
Please note that there will be no assembly tomorrow, Friday 6th September. Next Friday, however, we will be treated to a special presentation from the Spookie Ukies. This will be our final assembly for the term.
Next week, Years 3-4 will be heading to Melbourne for their Urban Camp. During the camp, they will have the opportunity to visit Science Works, the Museum, IMAX, the National Art Gallery and the Zoo. They will even have the opportunity to try their skills at ice-skating!
While the 3-4's are enjoying the excitement of camp, the rest of the school will enjoy a visit from the Questacon Science Circus. This incursion in a great opportunity for children, designed to stimulate and challenge students to explore science and technology for themselves and is an ideal basis for follow-on science activities. The incursion uses exciting demonstrations to explore topics like flight, music, kinetics, structures, bubbles or fluids.
On Wednesday 18th September, our Year 6 students will be presenting a short dramatic performance of Alice in Wonderland. There will be two showings on the day: 11.30am for the school, and 6pm for families. More information will be provided next week.
On Friday the 20th of September, Landcare will be visiting the older grades, along with Josh Griffiths, a scientist from EnviroDNA, who will be talking to students about platypus. This will be a great opportunity for students to learn more about this curious animal and what we can do to look after our local platypus population.
To celebrate the end of term, Friday the 20th September, will be a casual dress day. A reminder that on this day, school will finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.
