RUOK Day is a reminder to check in on the people around us, offering support through simple, meaningful conversations. By asking "Are you OK?" we can help those who may be struggling feel seen and supported, encouraging mental wellbeing in our communities.
RUOK Day has always been a significant event for our school, and I couldn't be more proud of how our student leaders organised and led the activities this year. They worked hard to create a supportive and inclusive environment, encouraging everyone to check in on one another and destigmatise conversations about mental health.
The student leaders organised a wonderful community breakfast, handing out hot chocolates galore outside the student entrance, and at lunchtime student had fun leaving thoughtful messages and drawings in support of RUOK Day. It was heartening to see so many of our students and staff participate, wearing yellow accessories to show their support and making sure to ask their friends, teachers peers and co-workers if they were okay. The sense of community and care was truly inspiring.
