Thank you to our parents, guardians and carers who attended our Term 3 cycle of Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences over the past two weeks. With 2,595 bookings our school community has had between 5,190 – 7,785 opportunities to connect with you and our students to support our collective engagement in finishing Semester 2 strong across our teaching and learning programs. Thank you for your commitment to these meaningful conversations. We encourage you to continue accessing updates on your child through our learning management system, Compass, where you can review learning behaviour reports and academic updates including Snapshot task submission and CAT/SAC feedback.
We have seen positive trends in our Learning Behaviour data from Term 3 and are proud that our highest Learning Behaviour school wide is Respects the Rights of Others, one of our DARE values. This has been reinforced with students attending class on time, enabling both their teacher and peers to be able to access each lesson. We are seeing strengthening of our contributions during application time we respect the opinions or beliefs of our peers and choosing appropriate forums to ask questions.
As we approach the end of Term 3 we encourage all of our students to reflect on two of our Learning Behaviours, Completes Required Work and Works Productively. Below are components form our Learning Behaviour rubric which can support their reflection and individual goal setting for the final phase of Semester 2.
Completes required work:

We have begun our Year Level Assemblies this week where our student leaders and Year Level Leaders are celebrating the opportunities that our students have had in Term 3. From excursions to incursion, upcoming overseas travel to NASA, community events such as Cultural Diversity, wear it Purple Day and our House Athletic Carnival, we are proud of the opportunities our students can experience both in and out of our classrooms. These are all integral contributions to our year level programs while are guided by our Year Level Statements and Auburn Learner Qualities.
Thursday the 12th of September is RUOK? Day. We have embedded this day into our community over the past 10 years. With communication as one of our Auburn Learner Qualities we know that this message is integral every single day. However, today we can remind and upskill our students (and ourselves!) in how they can create meaningful conversation in their lives. Communication has been reinforced through our Time & Space programs this term where we are supporting our families to strengthen their own communication across their child’s journey at AHS. We thank those of you who have attended these evenings, particularly those of who were panel members, and look forward to continuing to strengthen our family engagement with our Auburn programs.
Our Pivot data for Cycle 3 has been released to our community and our students led another fantastic Teach the Teacher session for staff. When we include students in the conversation about our data and their perspectives about statements, we can build our own understanding and enhance our teaching and learning programs for our students. Teaching teams are in the process of reviewing their year level and Learning Area data so that they can seek additional feedback from our students about statements.
Year 12 teaching teams have been meeting this term to review their student cohort data. This has enabled us to reflect on the strengths from Semester 1 and identify opportunities where we can support our students in this final phase of their Unit 4 and Year 2 courses, as well as setting them up for a successful exam revision period. Students have also been provided with resources to support them in establishing a revision plan in their study period classes. They are encouraged to finalise their plans, along with necessary supports and resources before the end of Term 3. This will enable them to have a balanced first week of the holidays before their compulsory trial examinations in the second week of the holidays. Students have access to this timetable and have been able to plan their schedules for this week.
We look forward to a positive end to Term 3 for all our students and wish everyone a safe and restful holiday break.
