Principal's Report
Dear HPS Community,
What another productive and adventure filled week we have had in this final week of term 3!
Yesterday we celebrated Matsuri Day as a whole school beginning with an assembly that included brilliant performances of singing, movement and Japanese drumming. It set the tone for the rest of the day to be respectful, collaborative and engaging and we are so pleased to have been able to come together as a whole school to highlight our Japanese learning and culturally perspectives.
This week we also had Year 2, Year 6 and Year 1 classes open their doors and invite families in to see all the wonderful things they have been planning and creating.
- Year 2 students presented their books which included various poetry and narrative pieces. The children worked so hard to publish their writing and it was fantastic to hear them reading and sharing with others.
- Year 6 students had worked collaboratively in groups to design and build sustainable houses and create information pamphlets which they enjoyed explaining and informing visitors about.
- Year 1 students had created puppet shows, diligently rehearsing in readiness for todays performance to their audience! They displayed amazing resilience and courage as they proudly showed off their acting skills and creative set designs.
Well done to everyone for such a successful term and thank you all for your contributions.
Right to disconnect
With the amendment to the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023 coming into effect, the legislation makes explicit that all employees have the right to refuse contact from their employer or a third party (such as a student or a parent) outside of their normal working hours, unless that refusal is unreasonable. This means an employee can refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact that occurs outside their normal working hours.
