Stay SunSmart: No Hat, No Play!

Hello everyone! As the sun shines brighter, it’s the perfect time to remember how we can all stay safe while enjoying the outdoors. Whether you’re playing at lunchtime, going on an excursion, or just spending time outside with your family, it’s important to stay SunSmart.

Here are five easy tips to protect yourself from the sun:

Slip on a shirt

Always wear a shirt with sleeves to protect your shoulders and arms from getting burnt. A light, long-sleeved shirt is best for keeping cool and safe at the same time.

Slop on sunscreen

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going outside. Use one with SPF 30 or higher, and remember to reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating.

Slap on a hat – No Hat, No Play!

At school, it’s important to remember the No Hat, No Play rule! If you don’t wear a wide-brimmed hat, you’ll need to stay in the shade during playtime. Hats help protect your face, neck, and ears from harmful UV rays, so don’t forget yours. Please wear hats starting Wednesday 11th September.

Seek shade

Whenever possible, try to stay in the shade, especially during the middle of the day when the sun is strongest. Playing under trees or using umbrellas and sun shelters is a smart idea.

Slide on sunglasses

Protect your eyes from harmful UV rays by wearing sunglasses. Make sure they’re labeled with 100% UV protection!

By following these simple steps, you can enjoy your time outdoors while keeping your skin safe and healthy. Remember, at school, No Hat, No Play means if you don’t have your hat, you’ll need to stay in the shade. So make sure you pack it every day!
