Class Parliament - Year 5 and 6
Over the last term, the Year 5 and 6 Learning Community have been learning about democracy and our system of government. As part of this, they visited the Parliament of Victoria and on their return to school, had to show their learning by creating bills relevant to our school and their needs and wants for change.
The Class Parliament
Late last week, the community held their own class parliament. The students had voted on the bills and 4 groups presented to the class parliament. The Bills were:
- 3 Camps a Year Bill. A bill for Year 4-6 students to go to 3 different types of camp a year.
- English Enrichment Lessons Bill. A bill for students who can be extended further in literacy.
- Interstate Camp Bill. A bill for going to camp in another state of Australia.
- Shorter School Days Bill. A bill for reducing the time spent at school.
As part of the class parliament, the students had different roles, such as the Whip, Clerk, President and Senators.
