Year 6 Mission Market: Faith In Action
Courtney Ayala, Year 6 Teacher
Thanks be to the Lord for a day filled with gorgeous sunshine and plenty of smiling faces at Mission Market, the highlight of the Year 6 Economics unit!
Across the term, students engaged in every step of the entrepreneurial process - conducting market research, presenting business proposals, crafting detailed business plans and preparing products. An important consideration was how to make their businesses ethical, enhancing their understanding of responsible business practices.
The students’ teamwork, creativity, and generosity were clearly evident on the day. The down ball courts were buzzing with excitement as students showcased a variety of treats, handmade crafts, and skill-testing games. The students worked hard to drum up business, and their efforts paid off—raising an impressive $5,600 for various mission organisations!
A huge thank you goes out to the many students and staff in our community who attended Mission Market, helping our Year 6 students make a difference for Jesus in this world!
Spotlight On Specialist: Music
David Bonfa and Judy Paterson, Primary Music Teachers
As we celebrate another vibrant term in our Primary Music program, we are grateful for the joy and creativity that music brings to our school community.
The Joyful Jingles, our choir of Year 1 and 2 students, delighted us with their performance at the Primary morning assembly. Their enthusiasm and angelic voices truly were a beautiful reminder of the simple joy music can offer.
Our Year 3 students enjoyed an enriching excursion to the city to see Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. This experience deepened their appreciation for classical music and demonstrated how music can tell powerful stories.
All year levels embraced a creative dance program, crafting their own choreography. This program has been a fantastic opportunity for self-expression and teamwork. Their innovative movements have shown how dance and music can celebrate God’s gifts.
Earlier this term, we enjoyed the 'Celebration of Song' concert, which featured our Primary choirs from years 3 - 6. They sang which much energy and gusto. More recently, the 'Celebration of Sound' concert showcased the incredible talent of our school band ensembles. This event highlighted performances from our string ensembles and beginner concert bands, each demonstrating impressive skill and dedication. Both concerts have truly blessed our school community, celebrating the students' musical achievements and the unity of our shared values.
Each musical experience this term reflects our faith and gratitude for the talents God has given us. As Colossians 3:16 reminds us,
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly… singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate music and creativity.
