Year 9 Update

Our Year 9 students have been immersed in a busy period of assessments and wellbeing activities, demonstrating both their creativity and commitment to our school’s values.

One highlight was our recent Memory Books session where students analysed the lyrics of our cherished school song and even crafted their own verses. A beautiful contribution from some of our Year 9 students reads:

“No matter where we may end up,

our Shelford spirit stays true,

Our love will thrive, our hearts alive,

Shelford, our school forever.”

This creative endeavour allowed the students to express their connection to the Shelford spirit, which will continue to guide them as they embark on new adventures.

In addition to their creative work, the students participated in a meaningful session focused on fostering acceptance within our Shelford community, specifically towards the LGBTQIA+ community. The discussion was both enlightening and empowering, encouraging the girls to reflect on how they can contribute to a more inclusive environment.

Students also engaged in another fantastic Chapel session with Ms Juers, centred around the theme of individual identity. As our Year 9s prepare for their next big steps, Ms Juers inspired them to explore and establish their own identities, emphasising the importance of becoming the best versions of themselves.

To round off last week, the students enjoyed a fun and engaging session with guest speaker Maxine Beneba Clarke, where they collaborated to write humorous and heartfelt poems. The activity was a wonderful way to blend creativity with camaraderie, leaving the girls with lasting memories of their time together.
