Year 1 Excursion - Imax & Museum

Year 1 Excursion

The Year One team have been busy investigating minibeasts. This term they have learnt about the habitats and life cycles of various minibeasts. The students have learnt to make labelled diagrams and read a range of non-fiction books to gain information about some minibeasts.

Our excursion to IMAX to watch the 3D movie ‘Mighty Bugs’ was a highlight of the unit. The students were mesmerized at the footage displayed in the movie. After the movie, the students visited the museum to view the dinosaur skeletons, and the various other exhibits.

The students displayed the school values throughout the day and learnt lots of interesting facts about minibeasts. They are all looking forward to creating their individual minibeast project and sharing it with their classmates.

From the students:

My excursion was really fun. When I put on the glasses it looked super cool. I saw a lot of spiders. It was so creepy and there was a lot of other cool stuff. I had a lot of fun. It was amazing and I want to go again. Then I went to the museum and it was filled with dinosaurs in there and I saw a dinosaur fossil. It was really fun and then we got on the bus and went back to school.
On Tuesday I went to IMAX. It was really fun. At the movies I saw a lot of spiders. And it was cool and amazing. I went to the playground with Leia. And I went to the museum. And I love IMAX. It was the best. It was amazing and I want to go again. I had lots of fun.

I went to IMAX. It was amazing! It has a humungous screen that is so black. We watched mini beasts. It was amazing too! After lunch we went to the museum. We saw dinosaur bones. “WOW!’ I said, “I can feel the fossils.” We got back on the bus and finally we went to school. We got safely off the bus and then everyone went home. Exciting!
